POLY - Sci-Fi Character & Customizer
Create a recognizable science-fiction operative with POLY - Sci-Fi Character & Customizer by Animpic Studio. An enclosed helmet, angular suit panels, reinforced armour, and mechanical equipment give the character a practical expedition silhouette. The Unity Character Studio combines equipment selection with material and colour controls, allowing the same character base to represent different roles or factions.
Equipment and Silhouette
The base suit and helmet stay equipped in every configuration. Chest armour, heavy armour, an exoskeleton, and a jetpack can be enabled independently, providing 16 equipment combinations. Remove bulky modules for a lighter scout appearance, or combine them for an expedition or heavily equipped security role. Equipment choices change visible model parts; the pack does not supply flight or combat mechanics.
The supplied presets are Base suit, Scout, Armored, Exosuit, and Expedition. They change equipment while retaining the chosen colours. Randomize selects a new combination of modules and supplied materials, while Reset look restores the original complete outfit.
Material Finishes and Colours
Select an element, its detail surface, and a material finish, then apply an individual RGB tint. Main, secondary, accent-panel, insignia, and light material families provide separate controls for the suit and equipment. The active equipment exposes 23 colour surfaces, including the helmet; the catalog also retains one surface for the hidden source head.
Colour adjustments to emissive surfaces affect their light tint while retaining the original intensity. Disabled modules retain their selected materials and colours, so they can be equipped again without losing their appearance settings. Changes use per-renderer material property blocks, leaving shared materials and other character instances unchanged.
Character Studio and Saved Looks
Customize the character through the runtime studio interface, the Character workshop editor window, or the SciFiCustomizer component in the Inspector. The studio includes a surrounding backdrop, podium, lighting, and camera controls for orbiting, zooming, resetting the view, and automatic rotation.
Save and load a look on the current device, or use the editor's JSON file workflow to transfer appearance settings. The included runtime code validates the catalog identity, material selections, and colours when loading a look. The helmet remains equipped across presets, randomization, and saved-look loading; the original head is retained in the prefab but hidden.
Included Content
- One source FBX containing the character's suit, head, helmet, chest armour, heavy armour, exoskeleton, and jetpack mesh groups.
- The original character prefab and a prepared prefab with its customization catalog.
- Equipment presets, randomization, material selection, colour controls, and look serialization.
- Runtime UI, Inspector integration, and a Character workshop editor window.
- The Character_Sci_Fi studio scene with presentation lighting and camera controls.
- An Idle animation clip and its animation controller.
Character Applications
Use coordinated suit colours for an expedition crew, contrasting armour finishes for station security, or lighter equipment for scouts working around a remote outpost. The single character base can support several visual identities through equipment and surface choices. These are suggested roles, not separate character bodies or included gameplay systems.
